PRELUDE
We are excited that you are worshiping with Gethsemane today.
OPENING PRAYER:
Holy and Almighty God, thank you for the season of Advent. As we gather for worship, help us to become more aware of your peace that you bring us in our frenzied lives. Remind us that you are the one who calms our anxieties, fears, and chaos. Let us turn our hearts toward you and receive your peace. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
LIGHTING OF THE ADVENT CANDLE:
SCRIPTURE READING: Liturgist: Missy Maines Isaiah 11:1-10
CHILDREN’S MESSAGE Let us welcome the children:
Away in a manger no crib for a bed; The little Lord Jesus
Laid down His sweet head; The stars in the bright sky
looked down where He lay; The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay
JOYS AND CONCERNS
PRAYER OF INTERCESSION (In unison after prayer)
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
(Matthew 6:9-13)
