PRELUDE

OPENING PRAYER: (in unison)

Risen Christ,

We come this morning with hearts full of expectation—
and yet, if we are honest, also full of questions, grief, and things we do not understand. Like Mary at the tomb,
we have known loss. We have stood in places that feel empty.
We have named what is missing and wondered where You are.

And so today, O God, we ask not only to celebrate resurrection—
but to see it.

Open our eyes where we have assumed the worst.
Soften our hearts where disappointment has taken root.
Quiet our fears that keep us from recognizing You.

If You are standing near us in ways we do not yet understand,
call our name, Lord Jesus. Speak to us in a voice we can hear.

Where we see absence, reveal Your presence.
Where we see endings, reveal Your new beginnings.
Where we see loss, reveal Your life.

Surprise us this morning, O God—
not only with the story we know,
but with the living Christ we may not yet see.

We pray this in the name of the risen One,
who meets us in gardens, in grief, and in grace.

In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
