GATHERING PRAISE SONG

PRELUDE

OPENING PRAYER: (in unison)

Today we gather in this Holy place surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses —
those who have loved us, taught us,
and shown us what it means to follow Jesus.

Thank you for their expression of faith,
for their example, and for the promise
that nothing in life or death can separate us from your love.

Bless us now, Lord,
that we might see your glory even in our earthly days,
and live as saints —
people who carry your light into the world.

In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!

that calls me from a world of care, and bids me at my Father’s throne make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief, my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter’s snare by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

PRAYER OF INTERCESSION (In unison after prayer)

Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
