Some Observations from the Office

Recently I have read a few media reports and have seen an interview of Christian Brothers and Sisters stating that they found themselves afraid that COVID-19 is God responding to all of the sin that has enveloped this world. After seeing and hearing these comments, I found myself more in fear of the folks that were allowing those thoughts to consume them.  I do understand that these fleeting thoughts may come to all of us via SATAN’S vengeance, but as a child of God, each of usknow to turn to him for his love, not his anger. God will guide us all through any and everything we ever endure, no matter how painful. I am so thankful for what my God has done for me, given to me, and especially what he has given up for me. I love my God UNCONDITIONALLY. God also loves us unconditionally.

As I read a few lessons last night, I found some very comforting scriptures. I hope they may touch you as they have me.  I just felt this on my heart and wanted to share. Secretary Jeff.

Psalm 25

8 Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways.
He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.
10 All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful toward those who keep the demands of his covenant. 11 For the sake of your name, Lord,
forgive my iniquity, though it is great.

1 Timothy 6:11

“But flee from these things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness”. There are many scriptures to comfort you. Never fear what you don’t know or understand.

GETHSEMANE DAYCARE

As we are still in full swing of winter weather and cold/flu season, we are taking extra precautions to ensure our daycare children’s health. If you are interested in donating any items to help, we are in need of tissues, baby wipes, sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer. These items are critical to us in light of how this world can become fractured in such a short period of time.

Thank you so much for your help in any way possible.

West Branch food bank will be in operation Wednesday April 1, 2020, beginning at 9 AM. All clients will remain in their vehicles and follow the instructions of those distributing their items.  We are blessed in the West Branch Area that we have the means and facilities to continue this community service. The food bank this cycle is for CLIENTS A-M. If you know of people in need direct them to us Please!

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT GETHSEMANE WITH YOUR GIFTS AND OFFERINGS, YOU MAY CONTINUE TO DO THAT BY MAILING YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CHURCH OFFICE TO THE FOLLOWING ADDRESS:

Psalm 102:12-17 (NIV)

12 But you, Lord, sit enthroned forever; your renown endures through all generations. 13 You will arise and have compassion on Zion,
for it is time to show favor to her;  the appointed time has come.
14 For her stones are dear to your servants;  her very dust moves them to pity.
15 The nations will fear the name of the Lord, all the kings of the earth will revere   your glory.16 For the Lord will rebuild Zion and appear in his glory.
17 He will respond to the prayer of the destitute;  he will not despise their plea.

Mark 13:1-8 (NIV)

The Destruction of the Temple and Signs of the End Times

13 As Jesus was leaving the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Teacher! What massive stones! What magnificent buildings!” “Do you see all these great buildings?” replied Jesus. “Not one stone here will be left on another; everyone will be thrown down.” As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately, “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?” Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many. When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.

Mark 13:24-37 (NIV)

24 “But in those days, following that distress, “‘the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light; 25 the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ 26 “At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27 And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens. 28 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 29 Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it[b] is near, right at the door. 30 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

The Day and Hour Unknown

32 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. 33 Be on guard! Be alert ! You do not know when that time will come.34 It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch. 35 “Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. 36 If he “Watch”!
